I just looked at my filters and realized something was wrong.
BMgr 3.9

Filtcfg, Configure TCP/IP Filters, Packet Forwarding Filters,
Exceptions is blank. If I look at SYS:ETC\filters.cfg, it contains
HTML code in German. The server is operating correctly at the moment.

Should I just reboot, go into Filtcfg, and see if the problem clears
up? Suggestions?

This is not a good sign. It's one of the main reasons I make a backup

filters.cfg with filters and exceptions showing in there. If you have
one, you can plan on doing a filtsrv migrate procedure.

I'd try that if you have nothing else to fall back on (no backups). It
is also possible you could rename filters.cfg, reinitialize system (or
just wait a bit), and see if filters repopulate the filters.cfg file
from eDir. It they are hosed in eDir, you're looking at restoring (via
filtsrv migrate) from a backup filters.cfg, or starting filters again
from scratch.

I have a backup folder which contains a filters.cfg file with a
modified date of Dec 2009. According to the Novell docs I just copy
this file to sys:etc, load filtsrv migrate, then unload filtsrv.
Should I remove the existing filters in eDirectory first? I see an
NBMRuleContainer in my BMGR container. Delete the contents of
NBMRuleContainer? Or does this also contain access rules?
Suggestions?

Thanks!

If you have a copy of my BMgr Filtering Book, read the filtsrv migrate
section.

The order you do things is critical.

1. Unload ipflt & filtsrv
2. THEN copy backup filters.cfg file to ETC
3. THEN delete all objects inside NBMRuleContainer
4. Now filtsrv migrate
5. Unload and reload filtsrv, and use filtcfg to look at filters and
exceptions. See problems, repeat the above.
