Hi,

I was wondering the following:

We have a wireless switch (3com wx1200) with some managed access points.
We want the clients to authenticate using certificates in combination with a
radius server.
Now I'd like the clients to use novell's radius server as I'd like to lookup
to edirectory accounts, however I can not find proper documentation about
setting this up. The documents I find are all very old and it looks like it
is not supported anymore. Anyone who can point me in the proper direction?

Thanks in advance,
Mark

My guess is that you want to use a newer RADIUS feature for wireless
authentication, and that isn't supported by the older (free) NMAS RADIUS from
Novell.

Are you wanting to do LEAP, PEAP, or EAP? (None of those are supported).

For newer features, Novell recommends you try FreeRadius on SuSE. (Though I've
not set it up, there are postings in this newsgroup that discuss it, and this
whole issue).

As far as documentation on the Novell RADIUS, I have a guide on my web site
(see URL below) for setting it up and troubleshooting it.

Hi Craig,

I have purchased your Guide and the first problem that I've run into is that
I can not seem to find a link to download an evaluation version of
BorderManager on Novell's site. Novell has made some changes lately and I
was wondering if they are no longer offering an evaluation version of
BorderManager?

We would just like to use the Radius component so your guide looked like it
was going to do the trick for us except for this one roadblock. Any chance
you could point us in the right direction for a download link of
BorderManager? Any help would be appreciated.

The new (3.9) version is available for beta testing, but it is quite different
from 3.8 in management interface. And, it doesn't have the RADIUS component.

Hmm - I don't see it there either. Let me ask Novell if it disappeared on
purpose, or there is just problem that needs to be fixed.

And I'll see if RADIUS is available separately.

Oh - If you download the eval of the Small Business Suite, you can get BM 3.8,
and thus RADIUS. You shouldn't need to download the whole suite. Go to the
Novell products download URL, and do not select any product types. Put
BorderManager 3.8 in the keyword space, and search. That should get you to
SBS 6.6, and within that, there is NBM 3.8 single CD image download.

Craig,

Thanks, that's the ticket. I'm downloading it now. :-)

we want to do peap, so I will try freeradius. Noticed some nice installation
docs on cool solutions :)

Thanks
