NIS - Can't initialize master NIS maps.

Unix print services 2.3 on Netware 4.11 SP8a.
Deleted etc\dbsource\nis\*.* and etc\nis\*.* created a single line hosts
file but when I try and Initialize Master NIS maps from within UNICON I get
the error:-
ERROR in converting text files to NIS database.
