I have several DOS workstations that I need to login to a Pure IP NW5.1
server and I have read a lot of conflicting info. Novell says it's not
supported but according to these forum discussions it is possible. Can
someone help me. I'm supposed to install the new servers this weekend
and this is stumping me.

OK, I'll try to help you.
First thing: regardless what Novell says, it _is working_ for me.
1. Install DOS Client32 with IPX and TCP/IP - verify it can connect
with IPX (you will need to enable IPX on one server temporarily).
2. Remove IPX portions from STARTNET.BAT - it should look similar to
this

@ECHO OFF
SET NWLANGUAGE=ENGLISH
NIOS.EXE
LOAD NBIC32.NLM
LOAD LSLC32.NLM
LOAD CMSM.NLM
LOAD ETHERTSM.NLM
LOAD Your LAN Adapter Driver FRAME=ETHERNET_II
LOAD TCPIP.NLM

LOAD TRANNTA.NLM
LOAD SRVLOC.NLM

LOAD CLIENT32.NLM

3. Now the tricky part: You have to replace file TRANNTA.NLM with the
same module, version 1.12. This is the only version that works for me
in DOS Client over Pure IP. You can find this module in Client32 for
_WIN95_ included on NetWare _5.0_ Client CD. If you have only NW5.1,
email me and I can send you this file. Also if you would like to
enable IPX Compatibility Mode in DOS Client I can give you some
further hints.

Hope it helps,

As Tomasz says... Furthermore, you can download a template of a working
boot disk:

Then follow the instructions given by Tomasz.
