Was successfull in installing Client32 for Dos/Win with TCP/IP. I am
trying to add a capture command either in the users login script or
through the autoexec.bat file to print to a network printer. I have no
problem with the capture on an NT pc or Win95 pc. But get a "bad
command or file name" when executing it (or capture.exe) on the DOS box
or within the script. The user has rights to Public. Is there a
conflict using Capture with DOS/Win client32 I can't find out about.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi,

Normally the capture command is executed in the login script ( either system
or personal ) and the person MUST be logged into the server since it is a
server command. Are you using the # sign in front of the capture statement?

Is the CAPTURE.EXE in your PATH or current directory? Try F:, CD \PUBLIC,
CAPTURE or adding MAP S1:=SYS:PUBLIC to your login script or AUTOEXEC.BAT.

Put the whole path to where CAPTURE.EXE is located (normally SYS:PUBLIC)
in the external login script command.

Example:

#Z:\Public\Capture L=1 Q=.queue_name.dept.org

If you have set CAPTURE defaults using PRINTCON (or in NWADMIN) then you
can omit the flags on the commandline as long as the defaults you've set
are acceptable.

The users have been added to a group that has been using the capture
command successfully for years. Yes, they have logged onto the network
prior to executing the capture command. Any other ideas?

The users all map to Public and the capture command is in the login
script for the users.

These users map to Public through the server login script. The server
is a 4.11 with SP9. Users use Client32 with TCP/IP and SPX. The Win95
and WinNT users have no problem with the capture command either
executing from DOS prompt or through the login script. My DOS users
have read and file scan rights to Public through their group
membership. What's odd is that I can't even see "capture.exe" within
the Public directory from a DOS box which would indicate some sort of a
rights issue, but I can't find it! If all rights are the same is it
just the O/S?

Hi,

I'd copy the capture.exe file to the workstation to see what happens when I
execute it.

Hi,

I'm curious. Which attribute?

Just so I understand -- when you say "DOS box" do you mean a DOS box
inside Windows, or a DOS workstation?

I flagged it N and was able to copy it to the user's hard drive.
