Hello, has anyone run into Symantec's Norton Antivirus 7.01 RTVSCAN.NLM
leaking memory? I'm up to date on all all of the 4.11 patches but this
nlm leaks about 300k every 5 minutes until the server crashes. norton
says its Netware causing the problem because the nlm is so I/O
intensive. Novell says it is Norton's problem because they don't have
access to the source code and can't troubleshoot it. Anyone run into
this before?

Hello,

Has anyone had a problem with Symantec's Norton Antivirus 7.01
RTVSCAN.NLM leaking memory? We are running 4.11 with all of the latest
patches and when RTVSCAN.NLM is loaded on a few of our servers, it
continually chews up small memory allocators until the server runs out
and crashes. We have reinstalled, replaced the nlm from a server that
works and it still happens. Norton says its Novell and Novell says its
Norton. Any past experiences with this?

Thanks in advance,

Dave

Hi,
we've got similar problems on NW4 and NW5-servers running the
RTVSCAN.NLM of Intel Landesk Virus Protect V5.03 (the one Symantec
updated and supported until Nov, 1st 2000) which we are going to update
to NAV Enterprise Edition 7.x.
But there are mostly three abends during a couple of days and one of
these shows rtvscan.nlm as the offending process. I can provide abend
logs of that. The automated abend checker at Novell's does not find
anything common to others!

But reading your message, I don't feel well thinking about updating to
get rid of those problems!!!!!
Do you have some news in the meantime???!?

Please let me know!!

This has been resolved by upgrading from NAV 7.01 to NAV 7.5
