If you have a 2940W, it does have 68 pin connections -- I'd use them.

But note, an LVD drive requires an active termination at the end of the chain, the drive
itself doesn't support termination.

Fair enough -- the LVD drives are fine -- I use them quite often -- you just need to use
UW or U2W controllers and have a termination device.

Hi,
I discuss this question with IBM support, it is said that
theese drives work fine but with special adaptors (!!!).
I see on www.adaptec.com that 68-pin LVD/SE devices did'nt have
terminators and in this case it is connected on 68-pin cable with ending
termination (another) 68-pin device, because 50-pin devices terminated
only 8-bits wrom 16, or we can take SCSI-3 terminators for direct implantation
on cable.
I will purchase that cable with terminators.

Many thanks

Hi,

The people who sold you the drive should have pointed this out.

Indeed -- you need either cables that come with terminations or to use a terminator at the
end of the chain.

With all the newer drives (that don't have terminations), I've started building up a 'kit'
of terminators just in case.
