plus a pair of 4GB SCSI drives mirrored on the internal SCSI
controller
to provide a 4GB SYS volume.
There are 2 more slots for drives in the RAID tower. I need more
capacity.
So my plan is to install 2 x 40GB or maybe 2 x 80GB SCSI drives and
mirror
them to create a new volume off of the RAID controller that is 40GB or
80GB
depending on how big the hard drives I will use.
The system is a Compaq Proliant 1200 with currently 384MB of RAM. It
has
been running fine for years.
The maximum amount of memory, according to the Compaq website is 512MB
of memory.
Even if I stuff it full of memory, will this box be able to support
80GB of disk space:
SYS-VOL: 4GB (2 x 4GB mirror)
Part1: 36GB (5 x 9GB Raid-5)
Part2: 40GB (2 x 40GB mirror)
Total = 80GB
...and what if I use 2 x 80GB instead of 2 x 40 for Part2:, yielding
120GB?...
Any help appreciated. I know that maybe one should upgrade the OS,
but this box has been so solid... It has not abended even once.
