Hi Folks,

Thanks in advance for reading this.

During an upgrade from WD 3.5 gig scsi's on an adaptec 2940u
controller to Quantum 34 gig scsi on an adaptec 29160 controller, I
encountered a problem mirroring the two Quantum drives.

The error message that follows is presented from INSTALL, MIRROR. The
drive 0 has a DOS partition, and a restored mirror from the 3.5 gig
providing SYS and all files/rights etc.

The system had no trouble mirroring from the 3.5 gig to the 35 gig
(the data block count was the same).

The drive 0 netware partition was resized (SNAPBACK Resize.exe) to
consume most of the drive (500 meg left at end), and this space
provided to SYS as a second segment (this all works).

The error occurs when I try to mirror the second drive, no matter how
I construct the netware partition there. For discussion, I'll describe
the circumstances that follow when the second drive has a freshly
constructed netware partition with more data blocks than the first
drive, then I'll discuss what hasn't worked.

The error reads as follows: "The selected netware partition is larger
than the original netware partition. These partitions must have the
same logical size in order to be mirrored."-this is true, but netware
fails to handle next step right.

Netware will declare that the selected partition needs to be resized
to match the orginal, and accepting the prompt to resize the drives
should do it. Instead, the mirror dialogue finishes without
mirroring(!!!). Mirror status shows no mirroring, the second drive is
still available to be added to the mirror set, and now, if I try to
add the second drive to the mirror set, I get almost the same error as
above.

Now the error reads as follows: "The original netware partition is
larger than the selected netware partition. These partitions must
have the same logical size in order to be mirrored." If you try to
follow the prompts, netware wants to resize the working SYS volume,
but would have to erase it to do that...not good.

So my problem is that I cannot make a mirror between identical SCSI
drives, any help would be appreciated.

I have enclosed the CONFIG.NLM file to answer all questions about
memory & patch levels. 312PTC, Y2K, LIB312D, 312PTD,
NWPA_UP,NWPAUP1A, and the Adaptec u160 drivers have all been applied.
