Hi I have got a question perhaps you can help me:
What can I do to make my NW 3.12 Server support long filenames is there
a chance? Perhaps I have to change my file system.

thank you for your help

Hello Lax,

To add long filename support to a NW 3.12 or NW 3.2 server:
1. Load os2.nam
2. At the console prompt, ADD NAME SPACE OS2 TO VOLUME <VOLNAME>
3. Reboot workstation and test.
4. Place "Load OS2" in the startup.ncf file.

Take care, Al Stearns, CNE

Hi Lax,

In addition to what Al has pointed out, I should mention the LFN is a memory
hog and you should have extra installed ( unless you're already in a good
position memory wise )

The rule of thumb I use is 16 MB of ram for the first gigabyte of volume
space. 12 MB of ram per gigabyte of volume space thereafter rounded up to
the next ram increment. This does not take into consideration the block size
or mirroring. A rough rule as it were. Seems to work well for most folks.

Example: 17 gig of volume space:

16 + ( 12 x 16) = 208 = 256 MB ram
