Alarm with IPX but not IP

We have all NW5.1 servers with SP3. ManageWise is 2.7 with SP1. We
are going through a IPX to IP conversion and slowly turning off IPX at
various locations. My ManageWise server was originally setup to send
IPX pings to all of the servers and I wrote a DOS batch file to send a
page when the pings alarmed. It works great and has worked great for
years with IPX. When I modify the ping to use the IP address of a
server and that server dies ManageWise does not alarm. Not only does
it not kick off my batch file but I don't see an alarm in the alarm
log.
