missing right hand side pane in groupwise 5.2

i can see a folder list but the right pane with all the emails listed
is not present and that does not change if i am viewing my inbox,sent
or trash.

the user has granted proxy access to his assistant and all is well
there.

i tried reinstalling the client but am seeing the same result.

what view setting do i need to reset in order to fix this problem or
is there a patch that i need to apply
