Appointments don't appear to external users

My company is receiving appointment invitations from a Groupwise 5.5
server. We are an external domain with Lotus Notes and Exchange
servers and clients. When the appointments are sent HTML and have a
message the users cannot see the appointment date, time, place, and
duration. The problem appears to be that Groupwise is sending the
message portion of the appointment as MIME content-type:text/html and
the appointment part as content-type:text/plain. The text/plain
information is not displayed by any of our mail clients.
Is there something that can be changed so that all the
information is sent as text/html. Running Groupwise Server 5.5
Enchancement pack with latest patches.
