Temporary Restoration of a Mailbox

I need to temporarily restore a GroupWise 5.5 mailbox from a backup.
Is there a way to make a remote db from the backup or can I redirect
the client to a path of the backup without the client trying to
connect to the post office? I do not want to permanently restore the
mailbox to the live system, I just need a way to get back information
in the mailbox from a few days ago. (A re-create was done on the
mailbox and all posted items are gone.) Thanks.
