api gateway files

I need software to read a UNIX standard mail file and create GroupWise API
Gateway files. If anyone knows of any please let me know.

If I have to write the software myself, can someone tell me the format of
attachment files? Are they decoded from MIME or Base64 into whatever real
file, or is it unconverted email text?

I hope I don't have to write the software. I have thousands of messages to
import. Many have attachments. For each email I will have to create a header
file, body file, and however many attachment files.
