I am trying to install eDirectory 8.5 on a Windows 2000 server and
during the install I get the following error:-
JRE Required
This Java Application requires rt.jar to be part of the classpath but
rt.jar is not found. Application terminating.
Then I get an error License install failed. Install will terminate.
I cannot get past this error message.
I have tried adding the classpath environment variable to point to
where this file is but with no success. I have also tried to just
install consoleone but this gives the same error. I would appreciate
any help on this.
Thanks,
Jaspal

I haven't experienced this problem during installation. I'm running
Win2K server with SP1. See if applying SP1 helps. Is this a US English
version? Are you logged in as administrator to NT? Is this a new
tree? There is a problem if the admin or administrator password
contains a symbol - see TID 10056986 for details.
Can you post the exact error message and any error codes? Was a
installation log file created?
When installing eDir, I recommend removing any existing Novell client
software and allowing the eDir installation to install a client.
Do you have a JVM running?
I'll keep looking around for other possibilities.
Good Luck,

Thanks for updating us on the situation. I'm glad you found a easy
solution. Was this CD from Novell? I hope they didn't make a whole
batch of bad ones or we may start seeing lots of problems about this in
the forums.
Thanks,
Thanks for your suggestions. I had already tried most of them. I
downloaded eDirectory for NT 8.5 from Novell's site and retried the
install and it went ok. The problem was with the CD I was using !!!
Thanks for your help,
