NDS configuration for the BDC

I have PDC that has NDS for NT. Does the BDC also need NDS? When I
tried to setup the BDC within the installation process it gave me an
error message when trying to connect to the domain of the PDC "Domain
Controller for Network cannot be located". The NIC card works fine.
I talked to a guy that works for Novell and he said, "You only need the
client installed on the BDC". Any info on getting this setup would be
great.
