I'm thinking about possibly studying for the CLP (and maybe later the
CLE) certification. The descriptions of the SUSE Linux certifications
seem to say they are mainly based around SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
10. It seems to be advisable to set up a home lab if I want to attempt
the CLP by self study from books (or possibly even if I attend Novell's
courses). So presumably I would need a licensed copy of SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server 10 for my home lab? Or is SUSE Linux Enterprise
Desktop 10 or even OpenSUSE 10 going to be adequate for the home lab and
practicing Practicum exercises, etc? (By the way, I don't have access
to SUSE Linux Enterprise Server at work. I believe we mainly use either
SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop or OpenSUSE because I am in a department
in a university on a tight budget.)

SLES 10 is what the exam is based on, but you can work with the
evaluation version for study. The evaluation version is downloadable
from the Novell website.

Correct. Either that or you can register it then.

As Tim indicates, it is not timebombed in any way other than regarding
support and patches.

Sorry, I'm replying to my own message to clarify my original question.
Basically, I want to know if it's going to be good enough for the
certification to practice Practicum-type exercises with OpenSUSE 10 or
maybe SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 because purchasing SUSE Linux
Enterprise Server 10 for a home lab is going to be quite expensive?

I just checked out the information on the evaluation version and I want
to clarify what the deal is with it. The information says that the
evaluation version is not eligible for technical support and gets 60
days of patches and updates. But presumably it is possible to continue
using the evaluation version after the 60 days (only without either
technical support or patches and updates)?
