Did you reinitialize system?

Are you pinging from the server itself (LOAD PING X.x.x.x) or from a
workstation? I would be sure you get the server working first, before
moving on to the workstation.

hi Allie,

ok. This is quite strange. You should perform a few more tests for me.

- from the server console, LOAD PING and try to ping:
the IP address of the router you use to access the internet
the Ipa ddress of your ISP's DNS server
www.novell.com
Does this work?

if it works, try to ping the same IP addresses from the W2K client (use
the DOS ping).
If you can't ping these IP addresses, try to ping the public IP address
of the BM server. Does it work?

If you can't ping any address other than the public IP address of the BM
server from the w/s, try to SET TCP IP DEBUG=1 on the console (when
nobody else is using the server) and try to ping again. you can capture
the console messages with conlog.
What do you see there?

Running ping from the server works fine, I can ping the ISP's DNS and I
can ping www.novell.com fine.

Doesn't ping from workstation, I get request timed out.

I can ping the public address of the BM server.

I'll have to do this early tomorow when no one is here. I tried it
yesterday got a huge conlog.

Any other suggestions I can do in between now and when I can do the
debug?

I also tried setting up a new W2K workstation, (I have 10 of them which
I have to configure.) I get the same thing on that workstation. Can
ping public and private IP, but nothing outside that.

Thanks for your help.

I finally figured out why it didn't work. I looked at the IP Routing
TID on the support site and noticed the server wasn't configured as an
IP router. Once I enabled that everything worked fine.

Thank you very much for all your help.

hi Allie,

ARGH! Packet forwarding was disabled? sorry, I didn't mention it.
Oh well...glad you got your solution, anyway.
