Chris, what's LWP?

All,

Last meeting we weren't sure where to go next with JS, and kind of
decided to do some black-hat stuff. I have a practical suggestion for a
future session.

I have been using my new-found JS skills to develop a Mozilla
Thunderbird extension. I've found it VERY painful, as the best docs
don't even come up in Google, and the folks on IRC are too busy to help
(almost 90 people just sit there in the channel without responding or
chatting for hours!). I found how to get a hello world working, and I
got some code working to reach into a replied-to message and tweak it,
but then I got stuck trying to find an event that tells me when the HTML
DOM is loaded from the replied-to message so the code runs automatically
as an extension. (I get an event when the XUL window is loaded, but the
HTML DOM is still empty. If I use a timer, everything works, but this
doesn't seem like the right way.)

I thought there might be a couple of possibilities for a NovaLang
meeting. First, if someone is more knowledgeable than I about extending
Firefox or Thunderbird, perhaps they could lead a session on the Firefox
or Thunderbird architecture and APIs. Second, if I'm the farthest along,
I could share what little I've learned after spending last weekend on it.

Is anyone else interested?

-Jim
