I have just spent a chunk of time trying to figure out why, in a given
site that has been upgraded to Joomla 3.10.12, the Joomla backend top
menu item "Articles" gives a 500 server error.
As you know, this can be a million different things.
I finally figured out that it is because picking "Articles"
from the top menu results in:
/administrator/index.php?option=com_content
Rather than
/administrator/index.php?option=com_content&view=articles
So for now I am able to function by first selecting Categories and
then selecting Articles from the sidebar menu, where it functions
properly!
This is crazy. Not necessarily in this order:
I have reloaded Joomla.
I have examined the .htaccess and regenerated it with admintools.
I have looked at my PHP and its directives.
I have examined various server logs and seen messages about missing
DirectoryIndexes but then realized those errors were old.
I have repaired the database.
I have examined the file system.
I have fixed file permissions via admintools and PWT ACL said there were
no asset issues but updated them anyway...
And more....
But OK, I don't know how it got corrupted, but as I have this working on
other sites it may not be a Joomla error.
I have perused the menu table in phpmyadmin but have not come to any
conclusions yet. I might need to compare it with other sites, but first
have to get my work done.
Any ideas?
BTW, Bruce, this is NOT the hacked site that fellow got me looking into
yesterday. No connection to that.
