Are any of you knowledgeable about configuring Joomla 1.5.26 with IIS and Windows Server 2012?
What php would you use?
I've gotten the site working as localhost but it is slower than molasses.

Thanks,

Dorothy

I've run it on IIS 6 before. IIRC, I had it working on PHP 5.3. You probably don't want to run Joomla 1.5 on anything higher than that though. The one thing I couldn't get running on IIS was the search engine friendly links, but that wasn't a huge deal because it was an intranet.

http://docs.joomla.org/Enabling_Search_Engine_Friendly_(SEF)_URLs_on_IIS

This is a legacy document, probably needs updating for 2.5/3.0.  As I understand it, the current software behaves more

Good luck with this. The only server other than Apache I’ve ever tried to run Joomla! on was Nginx and it wasn’t pretty.

It's not Windows Server 2012 specific, but I had to turn off the Windows virus scanner when installing components, otherwise the install would slow to a crawl or timeout.

Thanks, Sully, yes, the SEF URLs are also a problem. I had to turn them off and figured it would take some more research. The site has JoomSEF on it, which worked on a prior server, but I didn't set that up.

It was on php 5.2 before and this is on 5.3.

I'll go look at your link.

Glad that was useful.

I hit send too quickly. I was going to say, as I understand it the current software (J 2.5/J 3.0) behaves more nicely with IIS and maybe it’s well to consider migrating.

They've got 3 sites and I've migrated one so far... I'll see if the one that is now 2.5.8 will perform better.
