Hey Everyone,
Maybe you've heard Jeff E's latest quote in view of the Alexandria Community Indicator's project - that we've not done our job until local citizens are saying "Hey, I want my community indicators."
His statement is simple but deep if you peel it back. Ever think about how our Northern Virginia Brigade fits into the big picture of "Civic Innovation"? And then, how civic innovation impacts our democracy? As concerned citizens looking to leverage tech to make our hometowns better, and realizing that passion in the many projects our Brigade works on, we are going beyond transparency and setting expectations higher - for our lives and for our country.
This topic of what civic innovation is - the players, the stories, our areas for collaboration - will be discussed this week at an event being held this Tuesday, January 28th from 4-6pm at the New America Foundation. I'll be a panelist sharing our stories and giving a Brigade perspective on the topic. A few other Brigade people are signed up already, so please join us!
