What is it and what sort of lead are you looking for... data, power etc?

Ah that’s my question. It’s a power lead I’m after but not sure where to source it. Any help would be appreciated

What is the device? Make / model?

I think a lot more info about this mystery object is needed for any one to be of help.
Descriptions and more over view pictures?
What power do u think it needs, mains or dc?

Are there pins in there?
Or does it have terminals inside?

Best guess is that thread takes a glad just to seal around the power cord, if so that’s any old bit of wire to a mains plug maybe

It’s a light Vik W/Base 30 Degree Beam Spotlight Fixture

The data sheet suggests it's a mains voltage light fitting so it either has a proprietary fitting or that's just for a strain relief.

This website has a tech spec but no details about the wire.

Does the base look like it would be removable?

It doesn’t look easily removable tbh.

It is irritating about the spec. I emailed them but had no joy.

Are there any pins in the connector on the unit?  If so, can we get a close up photo?

If not, it may just be an opening to put the cable through as James mentions.

It's an expensive lamp!  Also 110V, unless the bulb has been changed for UK use.

Yeah that still most likely a hole for a gland to fit into, if you not using it outdoor the you may not need the glad (depends on internal strain relief)

There is not “lead” to buy per say its just going to be what where you or an electrician uses to wire it into a lighting circuit

Pop the cover on the other side and your going to find s set of screw terminals the live, neutral and earth

From the photos and "A2 stainless steel screws dipped in water resistant lubricating solution facilitates easy opening for maintenance" in the description you're looking for a couple of (or three) screws that appear to be screwed down from the top into the base. Removing those should give you access to install a standard piece of flex as Matt says.

The central terminal is Earth (green / yellow), but a better view of this diagram (without the wire obscuring part of it) would help to confirm the Live (brown) / Neutral (blue) terminals ...

However, you need to re-terminate your cable as the insulation is damaged. This is a potential safety / fire hazard ...

Hi Geoff,

Here's some info on the Warco lathe that is downstairs ...

https://wiki.nottinghack.org.uk/wiki/Warco_GH-1330_Lathe

You'd need to become a member and have completed the necessary training to use it. Alternatively you could post a new message on this Google Group asking if a member can do the work for you.

Regards,

Ian
