Saturday Workshops - CNC Engraving for Beginners - Saturday 23rd March

Hi Guys! 

I have a very rare free Saturday on the 23rd and am happy to run a few CNC workshops if there is demand for it. 

Its a Workshop aimed at complete novices to the world of CNC.

Ever fancied using the CNC Mill but not sure where to start? This is the workshop for you :)

Due to the nature of the content I'm limiting the attendance to 3 people per workshop. 

Just because I'm planning on doing these adhoc, as they fit into my schedule, I won't keep a waiting list as its an additional admin task to contact people on the list first each time I want to put a Workshop on, hope you understand. 

It will be a First come, First Served system for each date. There will be a few of these workshops running, so don't worry too much if you don't get a space on this particular one! Although bear in mind that they wont happen on the weekend very often at all. 

The workshop will last about 3 Hours and will cost £20 cash per person, paid on the day. 

(£10 to cover materials and my expenses and £10 goes directly to the Hackspace.)

Please bring with you:

- A Notepad

- A Pen 

- A Laptop that has access to the Hackspace WiFi (We do have two PCs available in the Blue Room that are perfectly capable if you don't have a laptop)

- A USB drive

You will be learning:

How to write very basic GCode manually

How to use a computer to generate engraving toolpaths

How to set up the CNC machine

How to run a CNC Program

Here are some examples to show you the kind of project you'll be working on. 

Whatever you produce will be yours to take home. 

 

As I'm free all day, there will be three workshops running meaning I have 9 SPACES: 

All on Saturday 23rd March:

9am - 12am 

1pm - 4pm 

5pm - 8pm 

Meeting in the Blue Room 

Please indicate the time you would like to book when you RSVP. 

Also, I will only run the late workshop if its fully booked up

If so, do we have to go upstairs and then come back down using the internal stairs by the lifts?

Access is from the back door near the metalworking area upstairs and then follow the signposts through the building :)
