My husband runs Linux (Ubuntu) on his laptop.

It has been working really well for the last couple of years - until today.

After noticing that his distribution was now out of date (terminal could no longer install new software when required) his efforts to rectify the situation have yielded no progress.

He then decided to do a clean install after backing everything up (22.04?) but as terminal isn't working, he can't create a bootable USB with the new version on it.

Is there anyone out there who can suggest the best course action?

Can you tell us what issue he's having creating a USB drive?

If he's running a version of Ubuntu from the last 5 years, he should be able to follow the instructions here to create a bootable live USB drive.
