issue with slashes in the artist/song

I'm using notpod to sync iTunes to a USB drive. This is to use with the Ford Sync system. The Ford Sync system requires that all music reside in the root of the USB drive, with no directories at all. I'm running into an issue where some artists names or songs have slashes in them, and notpod will create directories in the destination USB drive as a result of seeing a slash in the artist or song title. If I copy directly out of iTunes to the drive by dragging songs, then the slashes are converted to dashes, and am wondering if notpod can do the same thing.
