This looks like a High priority serious bug I found on Windows version
of notpod during first sync, even though it could be a mistake done by
the user.

Here is how to reproduce the bug:
a) The name of the Folder/directory where the itunes songs are located
in a Windows Hard Disc drive( eg D: drive) is "folderA"
b) Lets say syncing device folder name under ( i.e "Devices with
removeable storage" ) windows OS for eg: F: is also "folderA".
c) Also if the folder by which a device is identified is "folderA"

In the above case, the notpod first scans through the drives (c:, D:,
E:...) . During this time, it finds the matching criteria of the
folder and device in D: first before F:. Since it is the first sync of
the device, it will delete all the files inside the folderA in D:
which happens to be source file instead of F: .
Yes, I know it does gives a warning that it could be a system drive.
However, it should NOT DELETE the files during first sync if,

a) if the source file location and destination file location are same.
b) if the destination folder is a "Hard disk drive" and Not a "Devices
with removeable storage"

Hi. Thanks for your detailed report.

There are ways Notpod can delete files off your local computer, when configured incorrectly.

I acknowledge that there are weaknesses in the configuration system that allows for such configurations and I appreciate your detailed suggestion. I will look into this specific situation and see if additional measures can be taken to prevent this unwanted behaviour!

Thanks!

Not sure if you are aware of this but the configuration is VERY unclear.

"Music location on device" I assume is the device that you want to put your music to. i.e. the portable device.

"Recognize by folder/file" What is this? What does this mean? Is this the music source? i.e. Itunes on your PC? So it creates a file for Notpod to recognize when synching? And WHERE do I "create" this file? Does it recognize it by a folder? or a specific file? If its a specific file, why not just say "Recognized file location" or something?

Anyway, everytime I try to choose a location on my phone, the ok button fades out. So I am left to wonder am I supposed to create this on my Computer? If so, where?

Thanks.

Hi,

in the latest version of Notpod the Recognize by-option has been replaced by a "Link to device" option which should be more easily understood. Unfortunately the user guide is not updated to reflect this.

The reason the OK button is fading out when you try to select a folder is most likely because your device is in MTP mode, which Notpod currently does not support.
