It's easy for arguments to pop up between friends or family over a Monopoly game that went one turn too long, but that hasn't stopped the game from becoming a household name or Hasbro from making dozens of variations.Combinations between Monopoly and other pop culture phenomena have been going on for years now, and Hasbro isn't stopping anytime soon. Often bringing beloved franchises to the game night table, the best Monopoly versions shift the rules to spice things up but still keep the game familiar for long-time players.Updated December 6th by Isaac Williams: Almost everyone alive has played some version of Monopoly, but the game has a stunning amount of variety to keep things fresh. Realistically, if the It's Always SunnyIn Philadelphia crew tried to run a scam that involved them owning everything, they'd find a way to mess it all up by the end. Still, fans of the popular sitcom will definitely want to check this game out. Locations on the board naturally come directly from the show, with the chance to own Paddy's Pub or Mac and Dennis' apartment.Meanwhile, players get cool pieces representing some of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's most infamous moments, such as Kitten with Mittens or the Rat Stick. The locations don't involve houses; they're scams and "Extreme Makeovers" to ruin the other players, adding some of the series' signature black comedy to the game. However, its somewhat niche nature and limited changes keep it low on this list, outstripped by many of Monopoly's best versions.

A classic board game meets a classic cartoon in Monopoly Peanuts. Players can collect some classic locations from Peanuts history, then build Bird Nests or Dog Houses on them to help them win the game. In the place of the usual Chance and Community Chest cards, players get cards like "Augh!" and "Good Grief!" to blame for their good luck and misfortune.Meanwhile, plenty of seasonal activities are on the board as a reference to some of the Peanuts gang's most popular moments, like Halloween and Christmas. It puts a fun Peanuts spin on a well-loved board gaming classic, with players competing over things like Lucy's infamous football.

Monopoly Stranger Things will appeal the most to fans of the Netflix series and those with a love of '80s culture. Monopoly Gamer Edition has a slightly misleading name. Players shouldn't expect to find anything from Sony, Microsoft, or even any other Nintendo characters like Link or Samus. This title only features Mario and friends, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The game board feels like a Super Mario level from the early games, pleasing fans of the series.Plus, the character tokens double as some pretty nifty toys for those who don't have enough Super Mario and Donkey Kong figurines around the house. Monopoly Gamer Edition has some unique features to set it apart from many Monopoly games. Players work to see how many bosses they can beat, with special dice rolls giving them new abilities to help them beat opponents.

Every Disney fan should already have a copy of Monopoly Disney Animation. The game includes classic tokens like Hook's Ship, Aladdin's Lamp, and Mickey Mouse's apprentice hat. There's a reason the original Monopoly maintained its popularity into the present day. The game is an experience that people love even today. The best part about Monopoly is that it's easy to learn, unlike some board games. Despite its infamy and reputation for arguments, it's a family classic many play at least once per year. While some variations have cute new ideas to add or change some concepts from the game, everyone knows what happens when they're told not to pass go or collect $200 or that they'll have to trade if they want to build houses on their properties. While it's been surpassed by other versions, the original Monopoly occupies a reasonable spot on this list as a timeless classic.
