Dear noto-font google-groups,
I am a Sydney-based high school maths teacher and I am creating an internet application for teachers whereby they generate worksheets for their students to practise both arithmetic and literacy skills. One of the main ideas for the project is to make maths less scary to children and literacy more fun and engaging. I wish to make the literacy component of these worksheets multi-lingual, and the Google noto-fonts were kindly brought to my attention by Brent Fischer from fontsquirrel.com.
With this application, teachers will be able to easily create puzzles using a combination of arithmetic and literacy. The student will receive the puzzle as a printed pdf document. It requires them to complete some arithmetic, which is catered to their needs. The answers of the arithmetic will be necessary to help decipher a personal message. If the teacher wanted the message written in Chinese, then an arithmetic answer of say, 6, might randomly be assigned the character, 谷. The student uses the characters / symbols assigned to the numbers to decipher their message.
I would like to make this application available in all languages.
I require the fonts to be accessed by any teacher, from my site, so they can produce the pdf sheets, in real-time for their students. I wish to make the application available on the internet and have a server system ready for such.
I have some questions if anyone can kindly help me:
Cheers,
Peter Garside
· Is it possible to use the fonts in that way? I wasn’t sure if my application came under the Guidelines for Using Noto.
- Is there any licensing involved for the fonts to be used in this way?
- If they are free, is there any requirement to acknowledge the use of the fonts?
