Hi all,
It feels great to unsubscribe from the django-users list :)
I'm planning to discontinue support for this framework, for
the next releases (post 0.2.10), if any. Perhaps I will like Pylons,
or then again, it will be time for rethinking about this project
goals. Hence, a main goal of notmm was to simplify Django
development, or at least to help at understanding the deeper
motives of that project. But as far my knowledge goes, I win
nothing at tentatively trying to pursue this goal. Developing
websites with Django has been generally a negative experience,
and most importantly, is not fun at all. I gain absolutely nothing
by working on notmm, and so I'd like to have some fun while
developing web applications.
That said, I will refactor notmm completely just after
the final 0.2.10 release. Upcoming releases (0.3.x) will
not support Django anymore. In fact, I'm not even sure
it will support such a mega framework anymore. I prefer
having a small and functional web toolkit, rather than supporting
a stack like Django that prefers splitting core development in
distinctive branches, as this is really helpful when trying to
understand
the whole picture.
Anyways, I still enjoy programming with Python. It's really a great
programming language, and (I think) we should try hard not to
discourage
peoples from learning such a wonderful language.
kind regards
Etienne
