Hi,

My name is Hugo, I am a software engineer and entrepreneur in
Montreal. My startup involves 3D printing I am looking for a Maker
friendly space to setup my office. Unlike most developers of you, my
equipment includes CNC desktop milling machines, a soldering iron, an
oscilloscope and a large professional 3D printer.

Makers work with computers but they sometimes make noise. They are
always looking for access to better equipment and the ultimate
workshop to hang out in. They are people who enjoy making things and
learn new skills.

So if you think that the Notman house could house me and help me seed
the firat FabLab in Montreal for startups, artists, and open source
hardware projects... I'd like to get in touch with you.

Sincerely,
Hugo

I had the chance to chat with Hugo last week, I think we need to find a
way to support what he's doing, it's important (and super cool).

Hugo, what is the approximate footprint of your equipment?

Isn't Foulab already doing this? They have offices and hardware... We should collaborate with them.

Objet24 3D printer (WDH) 82.5 x 62 x 59 cm (32.28 x 24.4 x 23.22
in)
Makerbot 30 x 30 x 42 cm
Sherline CNC milling machine 80 x 55 x 66 cm
Sherline CNC lathe 120 x 50 x 30 cm

3D printing is pretty compact, but once you start working with
plastics, metals and electronic circuits then you need space for
storage and power tools.

Foulab is a great hackerspace. They don't offer office space to
startup comapnies.

I think that would awesome to diversify the people in Notman but so far the space is not very well suited to welcome this kind of activity. I really don't know where we could store the equipement and this would require to soundproof a room...

I'd love to see this in the House, but in its current state I think it's a bit complicated. We should keep that in mind if the project go through though.
