I adore my 64, my Commodore 64. I have mine still. This short clip actually made me chuckle, as it points out the struggles of the high-tech world. Steve Jobs (Mac) and Bill Gates (PC) depictions of battling buffoons is timely and adds levity to the iPhone media whoring this past week.

Mac's attempt to make everything sleek and apple-silver make me believe this clip to be a product of some angry PC-phile. Overall, it should be noted that Mac will never overtake PCs in the real world. The breadth and depth of the available software makes this a cold hard fact. I do believe that both Jobs and Gates are evil, but they do know their history and that the future of computing needs competition. The references to PC operating systems and Mac's so called innovations reinforce this matter in this clip.

The old Commodore 64's rant on porn is almost priceless, but true. Long live the PC, let the Mac's brilliant innovations stray away from its original purpose (innovative computing) and make college grads ogle over another silver or black Mac 'reinvention'. Steve Jobs can create, but in the end there will be only ONE left standing, and that will be Bill Gates!

is this for review? well...here goes...

looks like a feel-good movie for tech-philes...possibly the character
foil of a chick flick...i might imagine that the commodore 64 brings
perspective to the battle, thus saving the world from the continued
foolish game of one-upsmanship that the tech wars has become...you
think sony (playsation), nintendo (wii), and microsoft (xbox) need a
visit from Colecovision or Atari 2600 to bring them back to earth?

now on to this peculiar comment about pc's running the world...if that
is true -- and it is pretty close -- then it is a sad empire that we
serve...to be rendered slave (literally) to a product that perpetually
needs to be upgraded, plugged, and patched; periodically disinfected,
optimized, and reformatted; occasionally presented with a new host
because the upgraded version doesn't care much or work well with the
system you just bought last year in january...well, that's just
sad...but that is the lament of american...how many ways can be
presented to foster the perpetual waste of resources that has become
our culture?

the whole apple ad campaign is pretty much apt, i guess...pc's (and of
course, apple doesn't say this in the ad) will always rule the world
because they are designed for in-the-box thinkers and the minions of
line workers that they control...apples, on the other hand, have
always been best for specialty applications (music, graphics, that
kind of thing)...which is cool...but you'd better be self-
employed...and good at whatever it is you do...

can we go back to the abacus?

i give this clip a thumbs-up...i'm always interested in seeing what
people will do next with macromedia (uh, Adobe) flash movies...which
has been a wonderful imaginative tool for pc's (refuting that whole
non-imaginative theory detailed above, but i stand by that
statement)...i suspect the creator might have just got off (pun
intended) one of those unmentionable sites because he completely
forgot about fantasy sports...and football season is coming...

It was not really an assignment. I saw that clip over the weekend and I thought it was hilarious. I just wanted to share it with the group. Your take on the clip was great though. I enjoyed all the info that only a techie like you would know. In addition your take on computers in society, well I think Lieutenant Colonel Kazinski from Jarhead (2005) said it best:

Lieutenant Colonel Kazinski: I think I just felt my dick move!

I hope that was not to graphic for the homophobic members.
Now how can we pimp our website? I need music and a big picture of Selma Hyack somewhere. Let's get on that pronto!

Thanks,
Brian
