Agriculturist Engr. Igmedio Tabianan led the groundbreaking of the
project which will serve 96 hectares (ha) of farmland.
Marañon advised the farmers to make good use of the project given to
them and to take care of the project in order to make it sustainable.
Buenavista Farmers’ Association President, Ramy Entierro, said that
they are thankful to the provincial government and National Irrigation
Administration for initiating the project as it will have a big impact
in their rice production amidst the threat of climate change.
Meanwhile, NIA has earmarked P201 million for irrigation projects
and repairs and almost half of these will be spent for the repair and
rehabilitation of the Bago River Irrigation Systems (BRIS).
