Welcome Conan Fans!! As with any new group, things are a bit slow
until there are enough people to get things moving. So feel free to
ask any questions, make comments, etc. It is all good to help prime
the pump!

Two questions:

1. How can anyone possible fill Conan's (large) shoes and who might it
be?

2. Won't Conan be too busy running for president to take over the
Tonight Show?

I'm not sure who'll they'll find to replace Conan. I didn't know who he was until he got the job though. That said, the other networks have had no luck in finding anybody close to being as good. Plus The Late Show has some cache as the Tonight Show does.

I personally wish he wouldn't relocate to L.A. Frankly there isn't as much you can do with the NBC studios there, as you can in New York. I dread Conan dialing his humor down as well. I haven't enjoyed Letterman as much since he did after the move to CBS. NBC isn't trying to hold only older viewers as they were when Carson retired, which is part of what made Leno a better move. Leno has gotten a bit stale and his over produced humor isn't as much fun. Conan has an edge that is funny and off-beat.

However, odds are Conan will relocate, the humor will get toned down, and whomever replaces him will suck.

After Conan takes over the "Tonight Show" and eventually retires, will
he be as beloved as Carson?

Nobody will be as beloved as Carson. I think they have to retire the
"Tonight Show" name with the departure of Leno. I thought they should
have done that when Carson retired, but oh well.

More now than ever, I think Conan should stay in New York. They just
are not able to do as much with a show in L.A.
