On the desktop (Windows and also Linux) there is a + sign or a
triangle symbol in front of a node to indicate that it contains
children nodes. On my N810 Internet Tablet running Maemo 4.1 there is
no such indication. Thus, when a note is collapsed, there is no visual
indication that it contains children nodes (node with and without
children look exactly the same in the tree list).

I suspect this is a limitation of the Hildon UI on the Maemo platform,
right?

I'll have to check if the hildon has this limitation.
In the meantime, can you check if you enabled the option "Show tree
lines" ?

Yes, 'Show tree lines' is enabled.

As a work-around, you might try this:

Under Tools > Configure NoteCase Pro > Icons,

1. Check the box for Automatic Icon Assignment.

2. Set Node Becomes Parent to Icon type Folder.

3. Set Node Becomes Leaf to No Icon (burtton in lower left of selector).

If this works on the platform of interest, nodes that have descendants will now get the Folder icon whilst nodes that have no descendants will have no icon. These are the icon settings used for the Help file.

Best regards,

Paul

Yes the method you describe works. But for all the nodes being already
a parent I have to manually set the icon. Thanks anyway.

Found some info here:
https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1161

It appears that Nokia removes the "expanders" by default.
I can reset their settings in Notecase, if you like I can create a
test build for you on Monday.
What maemo build of Notecase do you use ?

I'd be a happy camper if you can restore the expanders. Im' using NC
Pro 2.8.5 on Maemo 4.1 (Diablo). Thanks for your effort!

Hi Gregor,

here is the new build with possible fixes:
http://notecase.sourceforge.net/temp/notecase-pro_2.8.6_armel.deb

I need your verification and any other feedback.

Sorry, but I can't install this because of the openssl dependency
(remember my other post over here

Sorry, forgot to update code that calculates dependencies.
You can try downloading the new build under a same URL/name.

OK, installation works now. But the expanders do not show up.
Difference to the old version: In the old version there was a small
blank space left of the node. From this space the dotted line went
down (to the children).
In the new version tis blank space (where the expander show probably
be displayed) is missing. And the dotted line starts right under the
first character of the node title. Maybe it's easier if I send you an
email with a screenshot...

Hi Gregor,

can you check if the new build works better with expanders:
