Hi Raimund,

it's a good feeling to see that the plugin interface helped to make the program more powerful for you.

Also, let's not forget Daniel who was one of the main drivers for introducing the plugin feature in NCP a long time ago, thanks Daniel!
As a curiosity, I've known Daniel online for a long time now (likely close to 15 years), and this summer we will finally meet in person in my hometown (Split, Croatia) for the first time 🙂.

Regards,
  Miro

Hi everyone,

after many years of developing plug-ins for NoteCase Pro I finally combined all of them into one, avoiding code redundancies, fixing bugs and writing  full documentation. The implemented features are
  • a kind of CRM system supporting vCard formats
  • an Archive capability
  • a Filter capability
  • variables
  • forms
  • and many more
It is probably a good idea to go through the documentation to learn more about what's available.
You may also check out the concept on using an ini file, checking for upgrade, calling a plug-in script from "outside", determine the notes note id for script execution based on a custom property and many more.
Important to mention that this plug-in is provided as is with no warranty / support.
My big thank you goes to Miro and Paul for their outstanding support over the years.
I am using the plug-in myself on a daily base in personal and professional life and will fix bugs, extend features and | or documentation as time permits.

Give it a try, feel free to reach out to me (see support information in the plug-in) and extend | modify it to serve your needs

best regards

Raimund

Hi Raimund,

wow, nice work!
Where can we find the plugin?

Should we put it into the official Plugin feed now? So far, only my Plugins are in there. They could use some company :)
I think we talked about this some time ago. Don't exactly remember what the reason was that we didn't put it into the feed. Maybe lack of time for testing / approving?
Instead of a long testing / approval process, now we could maybe check only the basics and put it online.
You say it's unsupported - but maybe in case users have issues with it the first couple of weeks, maybe you could provide some fixes?
In the worst case we'd have to remove it from the feed again.
But why hide such a gem from the users?

If you can provide a meta file with the necessary data, I can put it into the feed.  If you used the "Developer Tools" Plugin I wrote, it can create the meta file for you. It can even upload the plugin into the feed's "inbox", so after a short approval by Miro, Paul and/or me it will be moved into the feed.

If not, let me know, then I can assist (if I remember how... didn't work on my plugins for a long time now and forgot a lot of things ;) )

Greetings from Manching near Ingolstadt!
Daniel

P.S.: YES, looking forward to finally meeting you next month in Split, Miro! :) Time flies. It's incredible.
But even since all these years (I remember: I began to try and use "NoteCase" - without "Pro" back then) in 2005. Almost 20 years ago!) NoteCase Pro is still my probably most important piece of software on all my computers at work and privately. It holds so much info and each day more info is added. Sure, I could have used a lot of other software options to store info in, but NoteCase Pro was and still is clearly the one which provides most features that are valuable to me, and the one with the nicest and best dev team! ;) So also I want to grab the occasion and say THANK YOU once more for this - back then -  life-changing software experience.

Hi everyone,

please find attached the plugin version - after my post I found some minor stupid bugs in my daily use of the plug-in I had to fix and forgot about posting the file. And yes I need to update my own web site as well ;-) Will do shortly

@Miro & Daniel - wish you a good time in Split!

best regards

Raimund

Hi Daniel,

for sure we can add it to the feed. I used your plug-in template as base therefore the meta information is in the plug-in. Need to check exactly what meta file you need in addition - give me 1-2 weeks and I come back to you.

greetings from Bad Aibling / Rosenheim ;-)

Hi Raimund,

in about two weeks I'll be in Split with Miro.
But I think that one day we'll have together we don't want to bore our families with reviewing plugins together :D
So take your time,
I'll be back home on August 19th and will not have the time to do anything NoteCase Pro / plugin feed before anyway.

I hope I have documented everything well enough. Since you seem to be the only one who has used my plugin for developing plugins, besides myself, I don't know about the real quality of the documentation. Almost no feedback about it from users over all these years.
Feel free to ask me any question, but excuse if answers may take a little time.  That's due to vacation time soon, huge workload before (and also during vacation - I'm self-employed in addition to my employed job) and because I am not so familiar with my own plugin anymore, because I rarely use it now, so I may need to dive deeper into the code and documentation to understand things again :)

Daniel

Congratulations, Raimund!!!!

I've only had time to scan the Help file and read your notes. I whole heartedly applaud your commit to free open source software basic principles. Turning to the topic of my initial impression, it is obvious that this plugin is a work of art. I have two initial suggestions.

1. Availability is limited: There is a process for registering your plugin so that its availability and installation is in NC Pro itself. See Help file > Automation, Scripts and Plugins > Plugins > How to develop a Plugin > Publishing your own Plugin.

2. I suggest you revisit your layout for the Help file. One of NC Pro's issues is that fonts are not variable in size. I admire your layout, but much of your Help file appears in very tiny type on my 25" screen. You can work around this but only by not using type of different sizes. If you go into your .ini file and remove the sizes trailing each font's entries, all fonts will appear in the size the user has set as the default text font.

Best regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

I tried to publish the Plug-In using Daniel's developer Plugin - but it gives my an error in line 38
ncp_error.png
Given it is encrypted I am stuck

re font size - It took me a lot of time to get the look as it is - not sure I want to change it ;-) - I will look into it => no promise. I work on laptops only
