Back to the group - I'm doing it today! With some vintage leather
that I've already cut, I hope to punch either later today or in a day
or so. Then, the twine. I have some 9 ply poly waxed I'm
contemplating using, but I'm not sold. The color is too white and
stark against the mellow brown of the half century or older leather.
For the background, my great-great grandfather was a blacksmith. He
had purchased this leather, 3 hides, to refit his bellows, according
to my father. That man died in the early 1950's in his 80's or 90's
and I do not know when it was purchased. But now it's finally going
to use after sitting for a while and being re-moisturized now for a
several weeks.
I'll hopefully have some pics up on flickr soon, or when I finish.
