Subject: NOTAM: Procedure for DSMC Helipad Closure

 

The helipad at DSMC will be closed all week for replacement of the AFFF foaming system. Our team and comm center are aware, and there is a plan in place.  

The alternate LZ is established at Seton Main. A ground critical care truck will transport the crew and pt over to Dell Seton. This truck is contracted out through Dell and operated by AMR. CareFlite should not be billed for the transport. 

The ground transport is about 12 min from Seton Main to Dell Seton; so roughly, an extra 20 min delay is added to any transport (Seton only has a rooftop pad). During this time, our crews will evaluate each scene flight/pt and make the best decision on where they should be transported. Dell is our only level 1 and burn center in the region. Depending on pick up location, it may be faster overall to go to Temple or San Antonio if they absolutely need to go to a level 1 or burn center. I emphasized that crews need to explain this well to pt and families before we take them to a different region.
