Dear Concerned Residents,
This afternoon a sink hole appeared in the road on 52nd Avenue between Division and Hawthorne streets. In response, Line 71 buses have been re-routed to alternate streets.
Southbound buses will go west on Hawthorne and turn left on 50th, then turn left on Division, then right on 52nd where they will resume their regular route. Northbound buses will go west on Division, right on 50th, then right on Hawthorne where they will resume their regular route.
This re-route will be in effect until the street becomes passable again, a determination that will be made by the City of Portland once it has fully assessed the situation and made any necessary repairs to the roadway.
At tonight's meeting with members of the neighborhood task force and representatives from our partners agencies, the Water Bureau and PDOT, we will resume our discussion of Line 71 re-route options during Water Bureau construction on 60th Avenue and adjoining streets. I will continue to keep you apprised of developments, or you can sign-up for automatic service alerts by visiting trimet.org.
Thank you for your patience. Please let me know if I can answer any questions.
Sincerely,
Jon Joseph
