(1) I have never seen a TV presentation in which the rules of a sports game are explained. Have you?
The game of football is primitive enough that the general character of the game is inferrable (moving a token across a surface against the opposition of the other team), but viewing a game of cricket is not enough to infer the rules of cricket. How are viewers expected to learn?
(2) In watching football, I hope that whichever team has an inspirational slogan (like CHOOSE LOVE) on the back of their helmets loses. But in today's Army-Navy game, *both* teams had such a slogan: "Rock of the Marne" (a reference to a WW1 battle?) for Army, and "Silent Service" (a reference to submarines?) for Navy.
