The Breeders on Sexism, Drugs, and Rock and Roll
I had to get to get my hanky out for a little cry after I heard
this.... Poor Kim. A true artiste. Abused by everyone, even the tour
bus driver.... Sniffle, sniffle.... Such a victim. She truly suffered
for her art.... And then Mommy had cancer.... I have not cried this
hard since the last time I watched "Behind the Music".
This is enough to drive a man to watch Nicki Minaj videos as a
palatable alternative.
I really liked the old New Yorker a lot more than this.... Since Tina
Brown's tenure started and now throughout the Remnick tenure, the
magazine has gone straight to hell, even if the focus has changed from
the lurid fare usually found on page 1 of the tabloids (Ms. "Sex
Sells" Brown) to the latest TDS outbreak among the chattering classes
(reported as "news", of course) and puff pieces idly charging racism,
sexism and homophobia like this one. This is like something straight
out of bad Rolling Stone.... I am not sure why Remnick has such a
great rep, to be honest. I heard him do an air full spectrum Lewinsky
on James Comey a few weeks back, and just cringed through the entire
thing. Sure, they did publish those articles by Rowan Farrow, kudos to
them for that, but this is no longer the magazine I used to look
forward to reading every week. Nope.
