The colors of the Moon

The Moon is apparently a black and white world. The only variations seen with telescopes or in spacecraft images seem an endless succession of shades of gray. Yet lunar rocks and landforms do have very subtle colors that can be seen with small telescopes, or, better, with image processing techniques. Saturated color images of the Moon show blue, orange, mustard and red areas whose colors reflect local rock composition.

A tribute to Isaac Newton

The 2011 Royal Wedding, yet another wedding of the century, took place at Westminster Abbey in London. It is the same church where great English physicist and astronomer Isaac Newton was buried in on April 4, 1727. In July 1969, after the historical Apollo 11 Lunar Module Eagle Moon landing, someone left at the tomb a fitting tribute to the 17th century English scientist and his work on gravitation, which made the Moon flights possible. On the tomb there was a bouquet of flowers with a note saying: "Sir Isaac, The Eagle has landed".

Our Isaac Newton Signature Women's T-Shirt features a reproduction of Newton's handwritten signature. We have more products with the same design like Newton signature beer stein and others in theScientists Signatures section of Nostromics Store. More science gifts at Nostromics Store.
