There are no presentations at these events - they are reading groups.
The first one is a kick-off: decide the first paper, meeting times,
get to know everyone, etc.

Tim Anglade (the meta-organizer) had the first meeting and had this to
say about first paper choice: "my personal advice is
to stay away from heavy-yet-sparse (but famous & tempting) papers like
CAP, which require a wealth of prior knowledge to be understood fully.
I'll probably recommend that my own local group start with “the 1995
SQL Reunion” or with “It’s Time for a Complete Rewrite”."
In either case, tomorrow night we shall organize and figure out which
paper we'd like to tackle first. Also on the agenda is probably how
to split the group up, since its hard to have a reading group with 60+
people. Furthermore there are probably people who might like to not
commute to the city every week for a meetup, and they might be able to
find like-minded folks closer to home.
See you tomorrow!

The paper is fairly short and not too technical, so it shouldn't be a
major stretch to read by next Tuesday.

Thanks,
If Redwood Shores is good for the South Bay group, let me know and I'll
check if my office can host.
Best,
