In talking about redundancy in commercial airlines, this is one of
many papers on the subject.

In particular the section on the Primary Flight Computers and Figure 5
shows that the Boeing 777 uses 3 sets of 3 computation lanes (each
lane uses a different chip architecture: Intel, AMD, and Motorola) and
using 3 different compilers to ensure diversity through N-Version
Programming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N-version_programming).
