So, I bought mysef a the jamman solo xt looper pedal from digitech. Works fine, as expected when connected to the amp. When i plug it to headphones though, i have mono output (left ear only) which is really annoying. Due to my schedule, I only get to practice at night and the amp is out of the question. Is there any way i can get a stereo output from this pedal when using headphones without buying extra parts? If not, what would be the cheapest solution to achieve this? Thank you
AFAIK the jamman xt is a mono looper. Your headphones are likely stereo. The solution is to make your headphones mono. There are probably adapters that do this, but with a little experience in electronics, you could take a short male-to-female stereo cable and short the tip and ring (not the sleeve/ground). there are also headphone amps that you can buy that don't require any DIY.
Hi everyone! I'm new here and need your help. I just finished my pedalboard which took me 4 year's to get it perfect and need a small loop pedal. I narrowed down to the Boss RC-3 or Digitech's Solo XT so I can put one right on the pedalboard. Which one is easier to use and which one has better drum tracts installed? Thanks for all your help in advance!!!
I just got a Jamman Solo and figured out how to work the thing in about 10 minutes. Sounds good, no tone suck, and going in to edit and save loops isn't a hassle. I don't use the drum beats at all but the little bit I scrolled through them they sounded ok to use for practicing at home. Got mine on ebay for $135 shipped and it was brand new.
I have the RC3, and it's excellent. Until the most recent firmware update from Boss, it did have one annoying thing-- if you wanted to switch between two different saved loops there would be this tiny (but noticeable) gap. Not a big deal at home, but could be a dealbreaker if you're a guy who gigs loops. In any case, the latest update fixed it completely, and now I am completely happy with the RC3.
That said, if I was buying right now I would probably grab the Solo XT because I love the idea of syncing two of them up. Super cool for gigging complex loops or working with a bandmate who loops as well.
Thanks for your help El Gallo Negro! How do the drum tracts sound? I don't need it to gig with. I just want one for practise and for saving song ideas. I called both Digitech and Roland (Boss) and they said I could download WAV files for adding extra backing tracts. Also, is there a time limit for each memory slot? For instance could I loop continuously for ten or so minutes in just one slot? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for all your help and patience!
Unfortunately I'm the wrong dude to ask about the drum tracks, because I never use them. I have read a few people say that they are a little underwhelming, but as you say, you could always import other drum tracks if you want.
The new JamMan SoloXT has drum tracks that were performed by Pat Mastelotto of King Crimson, XTC, The Sugarcubes, Hall and Oates, Matthew Sweet, Robyn Hithcock, David Sylvian, Mr. Mister, etc. etc. etc. So they don't suck.
Thanks for all the help! I saw a good video on how to use the Solo XT and it looked easy to use. Thanks for letting me know about the drum tracts as well. Like I said I found some for just under $100 in
DigiTechRep or Conky, I remember reading about people having issues using the software for the JamMan and solo XT's software. What are the issues? in other words what are the problems that the people are speaking of and is there a way to get around them? Also, do you just download the software from digitech's home website?
DigiTechRep, or anyone else here know if I can have separate volume controls over my WAV. downloaded drum tracts and my loops I'll be laying down on top of them? I know I keep saying it but I really appreciate everyone's help. This is the finishing touch on a 4+ year project and I want to get it right!
If the XT is the same as all other Jammans - the drum/rhythm tracks aren't editable, they are built in and you're limited to whatever Digitech included. You have control over the rhythm's volume, but its of a limited number of drum patterns.
My point/suggestions for Digitech is that they make the Rhythms for the Jamman also editable, that way you can load some electronic drum patterns which can be mixed with any of the loop slots. You'd have volume control for the Loop slot - guitar/bass/synth/ whatever, and also have volume control over the selected rhythm track - electronic drums, glitch beats, etc.
Yeah, just go to the digitech website and download it from there. I downloaded the software with no problems but I haven't used it yet other than opening it up and making sure it downloaded and installed properly. I put all of my samples on there just by running the headphone out into the aux input on the side of the pedal. Easy as pie.
Also a huge +1 on whatr Faldoe said above me. I find the drum tracks completely useless but having the ability to be able to do that would open that part of the pedal up to tons of creative uses other than to simply be a bedroom jam tool.
I was also looking at the JM4 Looper by Line 6 BUT it has very limited time for recording (I believe its only 16 mins. total). It has a ton of drum tracts and bass tracts but everything else on it (such as added effects and amp modelings) are useless for my needs. I just want the best SMALL loop pedal I can find so I can put it right on my pedalboard. Its too bad ths a company hasn't done what you've said, Faldoe!!! That's what I was looking for. I did find a good used JamMan in mint condition for $90 online. Should I grab it?!?
I'm grabbing one this week. It's worth the added bonus of having the ability to use two together if I ever want to grab a second one just for drum or bass loops down the road. Thanks for all the help and for the sales pitch. J/k Thanks again!
With a looper, the ability to make it do what you want to do quickly is very important, and that means the ergonomics matter. So I recommend that you decide on your budget, put the features you want in priority order, and go to the nearest Guitar Center or equivalent store. There you can try every looper in your price range, and take home the one that gives you the features you want with a pedal you can work more or less easily.
Hello everyone. I am currently using a Boomerang for solo looping and thought of adding a jamman stereo for the xlr input so I can loop vocals and a few prerecorded loops that would be too complicated to create on the fly. I do realize they cannot be synced but thought I would use the Rang for live looping and the Jamman for single progression style loops and saved loops. Just wondering what you guys think and if these new J!amsync pedals can do what the Rang can do as far as serial or parallel loops. Also does the Jamman stereo have Jamsync capabilities? Thanks for any thoughts and happy looping!
Hi all, I have recently bought a Jamman stereo, It looks awesome but I havent even plugged it in yet and can see that the noise that the buttons make will be picked up by my mic. Has anyone else noticed this or am i being to picky?? Maybe send it back and get an XT solo instead, the buttons seem much quieter but it lacks XLR input, I made enquires with Digitec to see if the silient buttons from the FS3X footswitch can be fitted instead but apparently are incompatable. Bit strange as they are only momentary switches, same as the FS3X.. Any ideas
Hi
My main rig is totally MIDI sync and controlled, which includes a laptop DAW using Reaper. The core of my timing is using InnerClock Synch Gen II Pro which has both CV and MIDI clock outputs and driven by a VST in Reaper. Its fantastic.
However I immediately started hunting down ways of getting the Solo XT Jam Sync to work with MIDI just in case I could get it to sync with my Adrenalinn 3 which will be used to lay down drum tracks as well as for my guitarist to play through.
Even more bewildering is the number of looping products on the market that have no MIDI. And those that do have MIDI capability many are limited and found wanting, others limited by the memory they have, those without non-volatile RAM, limited number of tracks and/or how limited in function. Its really pathetic considering the technological level available over the last decade. ::sigh::
The Latest EHX 28000 as well as the EHX 2880 are good at MIDI syncing. But back when I was considering it I personally found the 2880 clunky in terms of function and for the price and my situation now that I rely on a DAW for my main rig I decided not to invest in the 28000. Mostly price, lack of functions and to a lesser extent pedal realestate were the major factors with my decision to go with Solo XT in my alternative small pedal rig.
I am looking to make a switch box to control 3 jamman XTs between three musicians, ie which one is the master. If anyone has any details on the jamman output signal, pls let me know. So far I see on a scope a constant 3 volts between sleeve and ring. And I mean constant. It does not ever seem to change no matter what I do with the pedal controls. Then I see approx 2.5 volts with what looks like a type of digital signal being output. I wonder if one output can drive two XTs (in parallel instead of in series). That would make the switchbox easier to build. Any tips much appreciated. Tks
I am starting to believe so however we would need to decode their custom midi sysex messages, which should not be too difficult using a computer hooked up to a USB to midi interface and some monitoring software. My guess is we can control a Jamman as if the computer were another Jamman. Start. Stop. Tempo. But this assumes that the interface is indeed midi. And one would need to translate what comes from the source into the specific sysex messages the Jamman requires. A small project all on its own. This may be what is going on inside:
The undo and redo feature is also included, which is a must for any serious looper. Unless you can play loops without ever making a mistake, this is invaluable. You can undo the last overdub without having to delete your underlying loop and start again from scratch.
