Paterson Park Rezonings - Objection

Dear residents of Norwood, Orchards, The Gardens and Cheltondale,

 

Rezonings have been published for municipal property on the eastern edge of Norwood. This includes the Pikitup Depot, JRA Depot, City Parks Depot, and the part of Paterson Park north of Paterson Road. The rezonings propose a dramatic change in scale - with a possibility of 2,000 residential units being built here on erven rezoned to “Residential 4”, the highest density residential zoning.

It is disappointing to note that these notices have been issued before a revised Precinct Plan, accommodating the proposed changes, has been socialised and adopted through a robust public participation process. Residents are not averse to development, but we cannot support development where the rights applied for are so broad and there is no clarity on key issues impacting the surrounding area.

I encourage you to have your say and raise an objection. I have attached a standard objection letter. If you agree with it, please complete your details and send it to the mail addresses on the top of the letter and copy noraco...@gmail.com, or simply send your signed objection to noraco...@gmail.com and we will collate these and forward to the City of Johannesburg.
