I’m sharing an upcoming celebration honoring Octavia Butler at The Wayward Coffeehouse in the Roosevelt neighborhood in Seattle.

Fri 4/12. READING, 7 - 10 pm. Various Authors Honoring Octavia E. Butler. Join us for a special night celebrating the legacy of Octavia E. Butler. Enjoy readings by local authors Vonda N. McIntyre, Nisi Shawl, Dennis Y. Ginoza, Erik Owomoyela, Caren Gussoff, and Rashida Smith who will be reading works inspired by Octavia E. Butler or stories included in Bloodchildren: Stories by the Octavia E. Butler Scholars, an ebook anthology of science fiction and fantasy stories by those who have received the Octavia E. Butler Scholarship.

The Wayward Coffeehouse is known to many fen as a great geeky venue. The fannish décor and menu includes nods to Firefly and other Science Fiction television shows, books, & movies. Fannish activities are also hosted at the Wayward. Here’s a link to their calendar.
