MawlanaHazar Imam's memorable visit to London in August 1994 (5 to 114) brought together jamats from around the world in a celebration of the ties that bind the community across frontiers and of our Imam-e-Zaman's affection and concern for the jamat worldwide

Prince Karim Aga Khan, the spiritual leader of the 15 million Shia Ismaili Muslims, arrived in Dhaka on Monday morning on a two-day visit.

Foreign minister Dipu Moni received him at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on his arrival by private a jet to a red carpet reception.

The former was a Prakash Mehra film and despite a couple of good songs and the hit lead pair, with Amrish Puri & Anupam Kher in supporting role, the film could not succeed. But the title track, sung by Asha Bhosle and composed by Bappi Lahiri has managed to leave a mark!

In our country, parallel cinema has an audience of its own. It generally has a different set of actors and directors and the masses usually tend to ignore the films. The same story followed in the case, though the film was excellent on various fronts like, acting, screenplay, and direction. Rajit Kapoor was in limelight as Byomkesh Bakshi, in a popular Hindi TV series and Shyam Benegal was quick enough to spot the talent. Other actors, Amrish Puri, Neena Gupta, Pallavi Joshi & Rajeshwari Sachdev all were perfect.

I understand, you are not fond of action films. I believe, Angaar was a well-made, engaging mafia film, with brilliant performances by Nana Patekar and Jackie Shroff.

I was fond of one of its songs and still listen to it sometimes for its nice lyrics aimed at boosting self-esteem. A two-version song, I prefer the one sung by SPB.

Mushkil mein hain kaun kisi ka

Suraj ka Satvan Ghoda .is a classic movie which never got its due. Glad to see its mention in the post. Those days, off-beat movies were hardly marketed and lasted in theatres only for a few days. Like most people, even I ended up seeing the movie on TV and found it intriguing.

Pallavi Joshi, who portrayed Lily effectively in this film, also played an interesting negative role of Julie in the action movie Tahalka opposite Naseeruddin Shah. in the same year.

I like all the songs of Roja including Rukmani Rukmani. The mischievous expressions of the ladies dancing in this song are really enjoyable.

BTW, the HIndi dubbed version of Roja was actually released in 1993, not 1992.

Looks like I am the only one in early fifties who is commenting on these 1990s posts.

Well, personally, I am enjoying these posts. Its nice and nostalgic to recollect and reminisce about the films and songs that I had enjoyed in my twenties and enjoying some of them, even today!! Thanks for the opportunity.

oh!

Yes, in fact a few of the films on my list were unsuccessful too. But the songs were popular (at least I thought those songs to be popular at time) and my favourites too! So I could recollect the names.
