RSS Speed-up

So Mark and I were discussing slow parsing of RSS today.

And we were talking about the idea of possibly making a google app
that parses a user defined rss channel (submitted through an
extension, or maybe already sitting on the site), that would then
allow the user to download the RSS in JSON format vs having to rip
through the xml in the reader.

We have a bit of a performance issue when dealing with these in flock.
So thats how it came up.

I've done this using Yahoo Pipes, which has a nice JSON output mode. I
was using it to get data into jQuery though, not into an extension /
chrome. Programing Pipes is a bit arcane tho.
